LD Systems MAILA reviewed by Production Partner
Production Partner is the first magazine worldwide to test the LD Systems MAILA in its current issue: #2-2023. MAILA causes amazed faces at every performance, because the “Modular All-Round Intelligent Line Array” from LD Systems is no ordinary PA system. With its combination of modularity, flexibility and ground-breaking practical features, MAILA appeals to a wide range of professional users. But what can MAILA really do? How does it work? And how does it perform in Dr. Anselm Goertz’s measuring laboratory? The Production Partner test provides the answers.
For the detailed 15-page test report, the team had a complete MAILA set to test all combinations of the four MAILA components: SAT (array satellite speaker), COL (column speaker), SPA (amplifier module) and SUB (bandpass subwoofer).
Irrespective of the configuration, the editors attest to the MAILA system’s “very pleasant reproduction, which is maintained even at high to very high levels” and speak of an “all-round successful system”.
The “unobtrusive, elegant appearance without a lot of cabling and flying mechanics” also receives an honourable mention, “which means that the MAILA can also be well integrated into a visually sophisticated environment, which applies equally to mobile and fixed systems”.
The conclusion:
“The development of the MAILA system began with a lofty goal, which is currently the headline of the MAILA page on the LD Systems website. “Some jobs need a big line array. For everything else, there is MAILA”. With a system of SAT modules, a COL extension and a subwoofer that can be scaled over a very wide range, this is exactly what has been achieved. From sound reinforcement for a panel discussion on stage to a concert in front of 1,000 people, there is always a MAILA setup to suit.”
