Top sound but with a different spin – LD Systems MAILA at KDKlub Horní Bříza

Top sound but with a different spin – that was the simple request made by the operators of the KDKlub Horní Bříza for the new sound system. The cultural centre in the town of Horní Bříza in the west of the Czech Republic is used for various purposes – from concerts and club nights to school dances, weddings, and discussion groups – and required an equally versatile PA system capable of adapting to every type of event. In the KDKlub’s 230-square-metre main room, the systems integrator responsible for the project Divadelní služby Plzeň opted for a suspended LD Systems MAILA system.

The end client wanted to set itself apart from other cultural centres in the region and offer its customers a professional foundation for any type of event by focusing on sound quality. “That’s why we had MAILA in mind right from the start,” explains Jan Klér, Managing Director of Divadelní služby Plzeň, who heard the modular all-round intelligent line array for the first time at the Adam Hall Experience Center in 2022. “I’ve been in love with MAILA ever since.”

The suspended MAILA stereo setup consists of eight passive MAILA SAT array satellite speakers, each placed under a MAILA COL active column speaker, which also functions as a power amplifier for the MAILA SAT. Two active 2×15” MAILA SUB bandpass subwoofers on the floor provide a mighty boost at rock concerts, techno parties, and more. “MAILA’s biggest advantage is its modularity,” adds project manager Petr Polanka, who worked closely with the Adam Hall Group’s Field Application team during the planning and on-site setup. “The set in the KDKlub is perfectly tailored to the space.”

The team from Divadelní služby Plzeň also used the MAILA app to customise MAILA to different types of events. “The app is really intuitive and makes the complex electro-acoustic processes involved in setting up a line array system quick and efficient to handle,” explains Petr Polanka. “Being able to prepare the settings for each configuration offline and then apply them swiftly in the hall, including making minor adjustments via the app in real time, is extremely convenient.”
