Sax loves MAUI® – Interview with DJ Jetro

A saxophone, a DJ booth, and a PA – that’s all DJ Jetro from Finland needs to get the party started. We spoke to Jetro about his passion and the demands of being a saxophone DJ.

How did the idea of combining DJ and saxophone come about?

My father was a jazz drummer and my three older brothers are also all musicians. Their performances inspired me at a young age to become a musician myself. At home, there was a dusty alto saxophone, which I picked up for the first time at the age of about seven and was immediately fascinated by. In the following 15 years, I played in various bands and orchestras and was finally booked for a wedding where I where I played saxophone along with a DJ. I was immediately hooked and got to grips with DJing, but it was much more time-consuming than I had initially imagined.

What requirements do you have for your set-up? What do you attach particular importance to?

As a DJ, you naturally need powerful, high-quality subwoofers. Portability is just as important. Finland has over 200,000 islands and the Finns love to celebrate their weddings on these small islands. That’s why the entire system has to be light and compact so that I can transport and set it up on my own. A subwoofer castor board is an absolute must and makes transporting the subwoofers and anything else I want to stack on it a breeze.

How did you become aware of LD Systems and the MAUI® series?

I often play for social media influencers and, for these gigs, you need a speaker system that also looks good, so it’s Instagram-ready. I looked at various systems that are available in white and finally ended up with the MAUI® series. The reviews I looked at convinced me – and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve been a MAUI® user since mid-2023 and the MAUI® 44 G2 is already my fourth MAUI®! For me, there’s no better system.

What do you particularly like about the MAUI® 44 G2?

In addition to the appearance, I’m particularly impressed by the remarkably even sound distribution in the room. There are no annoying hotspots or coverage gaps and it’s really difficult to make the MAUI® sound bad – no matter where you place it. It is simply the perfect blend of mobility, performance, and outstanding sound. The MAUI® 44 G2 is also extremely easy to use and doesn’t require any cables or stands (apart from the power supply). At the same time, it offers me a wide range of possibilities.
