Tante Mia Tanzt – With OTOS® H5. Electro Festival Uses Cameo Exclusively

26 May saw the triumphant return of one of Germany’s first large-scale festivals, “Tante Mia tantzt”. Around 20,000 like-minded electro-fans gathered for the family gathering of the dancing kind on the site of the Stoppelmarkt in Vechta, Lower Saxony. Acts such as Darren Styles, Don Diablo, Felix Jaehn, and many other EDM greats warmed up the party-lovers with their distinctive beats. Eventures GmbH was in charge of the event equipment for the open-air festival. To light up the electro spectacle, lighting designer Milan Spira used Cameo moving lights exclusively, including the new Cameo OTOS® H5 hybrid beam spot wash.

“We wanted to reflect the festival’s special village fair and funfair concept in the lighting design, and also enhance the special flair of an EDM festival,” explains Milan Spira. So they tried to avoid physical set and decorative elements and to digitalise the overall look. Paris Yilmaz from Clubkind Visuals, who worked closely with Milan Spira as a visual arts specialist, was responsible for this aspect.

Spira specified a large number of beam lights to fill the inevitable gaps in the set design. The lighting designer preferred to use the new Cameo OTOS® H5 and gave the IP65-capable beam spot wash hybrid moving heads their festival debut in Germany.

“I’m generally a fan of hybrid spotlights, and the OTOS are perfect for this festival,” Spira continues. “I can cover all types of lamps and use a larger number of the same spotlights, which simplifies operation for me, especially at a festival with lots of different acts and requirements.” In addition to the high light output, Milan Spira is also impressed by the gobo set and the colour quality of the OTOS H5. The lighting designer had already had good experience with the Cameo OPUS® H5 in the past, and NicLen informed him that the OTOS® H5 is now also available as a fully outdoor-compatible IP65 variant. After a shootout at NicLen, the decision was finally made to use the OTOS® H5 for Tante Mia tanzt.

In addition to the OTOS® H5, the ZENIT® W600 SMD outdoor LED wash lights and the EVOS® W3 compact LED wash moving heads were also in use at the festival.

“We are already planning further projects with the OTOS® H5 and the OPUS® H5, depending on whether the requirements are indoor or outdoor. I’m delighted with both lamps and really only have positive things to say about them.”
